| WRAJ Internet Radio is Swapping ISPs Sept 2 |
Tuesday, August 25th, 2009
WRAJ Internet Radio will be making a giant leap in terms of our service delivery. The station is going to be switching from Cablevision’s coaxial network to Verizon’s FiOS’s fiber optic network. “With Cablevision, we are not getting enough upload speeds to our web servers,” Anthony Zaragoza said. “Because the growth of our podcasting platform on Vidgle and WRAJ Internet Radio, we are uploading more data to our servers in California than we ever before!” This switch does not effect the audience but our work here. WRAJ Internet Radio and Vidgle is not hosted or streamed out of house. WRAJ Internet Radio is streamed to a server in Chicago where its then becomes public and there is a server in Los Angeles hosting the website properties. Most WRAJ Internet Radio staff members already have Verizon FiOS in the past few years and they have had positive feedback. We have performed tests using their connections and it was very exceptional.
“Its something we’ve been waiting for nearly six years now and we are all am excited for it.”
Before the provider swap, a router maintenance will be performed Monday Night at 1:00AM EST (Tuesday morning) and may last for an hour.
The switch of the Internet Service Provider (ISP) will take place in a time frame of Wednesday, September 2 at 1:00PM through 8:00PM EST b. This may interrupt our broadcast programming is depended of our wiring situation, it may interrupt for minutes through an hour.
